I have been a guide off and on since the 1980's. My beginning was in adventure travel, guiding clients on 6–8-week treks in Nepal or trips over the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska, and along sections of the SW Coastal Path in Cornwall and Devon. Now I have settled in central Kentucky, where I have been a guide at both large and craft distilleries. Currently, I guide at the cooperage bourbon barrels are made. It is all fun and important. Guiding is about imparting knowledge and educating another person on a very specific subject. It needs to be done with enthusiasm, authenticity and an upbeat feeling.
