I am a native Rapa Nui tour guide, 43 years old, with 18 years of professional experience in the industry, where my work is my true passion. I take deep pride in sharing the richness of our history, culture, and natural environment with travelers arriving on our island, providing a comprehensive interpretation that weaves together living oral traditions passed down through generations with scientific research and field studies. Throughout my career, I have explored the distinct phases of our past in depth—from the ancestral oceanic navigation routes of the archaic period across the Pacific, to the monumental engineering of ceremonial platforms and the carving of the moai during the classic era, through to the sociopolitical transition toward the Tangata Manu (Birdman) cult in the post-classic period. Furthermore, my practice encompasses archaeoastronomy, analyzing celestial alignments and calendars that historically governed fertility cycles and the management of limited resources under an established hierarchy. I integrate this with active field knowledge regarding restoration efforts, the impact of introduced species, the conservation of endemic flora and fauna, and the behavior of migratory seabirds, always committed to protecting and transmitting our ancestral heritage through authentic, mindful, and high-standard guiding.
